I have organised the following campaign to ensure that my constituents are aware of a proposal to build a 12-storey tower block on our doorsteps.
The development in question is a 238-room hotel, offices, and nursery in Shakespeare Road (N3), containing no parking facilities.
I support regeneration, but any new developments must be in keeping with the character of the area and our local suburban environment.
The development expects that all guests at the hotel, and all office workers, will travel to the development by public transport. It also expects that all parents will bring their children to the nursery by public transport. Whilst this is a nice idea, it is wholly unrealistic.
In addition, the development's viability seems predicated on all deliveries to Tesco and other businesses arriving into Popes Drive via The Grove (either from Ballards Lane or Nether Street junctions). This also seems wholly unrealistic.
The proposed layout of the site is shown in the graphic above, and further details can be found here: https://shakespeare-road.co.uk/
I have sent out postal surveys to constituents who live locally to the site, however, constituents are also welcome to share their views on the development using the form below.
