The Office for National Statistics has released its latest employment figures which demonstrate the UK economy is continuing to deliver opportunity to people across the country.
In the period between May to July, 31.77 million people were in work which is 559,000 more than for a year earlier. Of those 31.77 million, 23.25 million are now in full-time work which is 434,000 more than for a year earlier.
The unemployment rate stands at 4.9% and now has one of the lowest unemployment rates of the whole of Europe.
Commenting on these figures Mr Freer said, “There have been a number of global and regional factors that could have adversely affected the labour markets here in the UK in recent months. However, despite these challenges the labour market has remained resilient and employment continues to rise.”
