Mike Freer MP, today held a debate in the Houses of Parliament regarding Power Cuts in North Finchley. Mike raised the plight of local traders who suffered repeat power cuts and interruptions to their business in recent months.
Mike discussed how compensation offered to traders was insufficient and called on OFGEM and UK Power Networks to properly compensate businesses. Mike also highlighted the problems the local power infrastructure has suffered following increased demand from businesses. Mike is calling for a long term solution to the problem.
Mike comments “The recent power cuts in North Finchley continue to disrupt local businesses. Whilst UK Power Networks have invested over £70,000 in upgrades, the problem continues. Perhaps greater compensation might focus the minds of utility companies to ensure that problems do not recur.
I am seeking a long term solution to the problems witnessed in North Finchley and by bringing this issue to Parliament, I hope this can be resolved as quickly as possible”.
