David Cameron announced on Sunday that the inheritance tax threshold for property will be raised to £1m by a Conservative government. The announcement has been welcomed by Mike Freer who is standing for re-election in Finchley and Golders Green.
Mike comments:
“As house prices have risen locally, more and more families are finding that their family home is hammered by inheritance tax. The move to allow up to £1m of your house value to be inherited tax-free is the right policy for the right time in Finchley and Golders Green, and one that I strongly support.
For too long, families have been forced to sell the family home to pay off the taxman. That is completely wrong and the pledge made by the Conservatives shows that we are backing families across London who have worked hard and bought their own home”.
