Mike Freer MP is encouraging people from Finchley and Golders Green to take part in a survey to help improve the Inheritance Tax system to make it easier to understand and less daunting.
The Government believes that the complexity of the Inheritance Tax system causes unnecessary concern to the public and that it is high-time for an overhaul. In January, Chancellor Phillip Hammond asked the Office for Tax Simplification (OST) to review the complexities of Inheritance Tax system and come up with ideas as to how to simplify it. As part of the review, the OST is giving the public their say through an online questionnaire.
Commenting, Mike said “People often write to me concerned about Inheritance Tax. As the current system is somewhat complicated, many don’t fully understand what it might mean for them. I am pleased the Chancellor has asked the OST to review the system, seek views from the public and come up with proposals.”
