The Member of Parliament for Finchley and Golders Green, Mike Freer, has backed Vodaphone’s Be Strong Online Ambassador Programme, designed to help young people develop the skills they need to stay safe online.
Mike met with student ambassadors from Whitefield School at an event in Parliament organised by Vodaphone to find out more. The students joined interactive sessions covering a variety of online topics, from cyberbullying and digital footprints to selfies, gaming and social media.
Commenting, Mike said, “The online world is becoming an ever more important part of our lives for learning, business and leisure. With that comes dangers that are not always obvious – from sharing too much on social media to falling for online scams. I am pleased that the Be Strong Online programme is helping students from my constituency develop the savvy skills they will need to stay safe online – it’s something we should all be conscious of when logging on.”
Along with student ambassadors, the event was attended by MPs and the Prime Minister’s Special Representative on Internet Safety Baroness Joanna Shields OBE.
