It is now over a year since former Prime Minister, David Cameron, announced plans for a National Holocaust Memorial to be built outside of Parliament.
The exact location of the new memorial will be in Victoria Tower Gardens, on the west side of the Parliamentary estate.
Designs for the memorial were open to submissions from around the world and a shortlist of 10 have been invited to submit concept designs.
Mr Freer having reviewed the submissions said: “It really is incredible how these artists and architects have been able to collaborate and create what are incredibly thought provoking pieces.”
“Having visited Yad Vashem in Israel, I have seen how effectively public memorials can communicate the history and stories of the holocaust. Similarly, so many on the shortlist have been able to convey a powerful message to honour the lives of victims and survivors.”
