According to new Office of National Statistics (ONS) figures, the UK retail sector grew by 1.9 per cent in the last month.
The figure is almost 1.5 per cent higher than the 0.5% growth forecast for this period, demonstrating the fastest growth rate in retail sales in 14 years.
Unemployment figures also continue to boost confidence in the UK labour market with unemployment at an 11-year low.
The total number of unemployed in the three months to September fell to 1.6 million, with 31.8 million people in work.
In the Chancellor’s Autumn Statement next week businesses will be calling on the Government to introduce measures to help continue the trend in rising employment.
