As well as handling correspondence and emails from constituents I have carried out a number of interviews, Committees and Events throughout the week, as seen below:
Monday 17th October
As the United Kingdom needs to increase its aviation hub capacity to compete with international rivals I began my week with an in depth discussion into airport expansion in the South East of England.
Later on Monday I attended the Transport Select Committee in my role as Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Transport.
Tuesday 18th October
During the afternoon I attended the Executive Committee of the British-American Parliamentary Group. Here we discussed various issues that are of importance to both the United Kingdom and the United States.
In the evening I facilitated a tea room surgery in my role as PPS to the Secretary of State for Transport. Here I met with a number of MPs who wished to meet with the Secretary of State to raise concerns about transportation in their constituencies.
Wednesday 19th October
I began my Wednesday by discussing Binary Trading and its dangers with BBC Watchdog. During the discussion I raised a case where an individual has lost a significant amount of money and is struggling to recover the original investment.
Binary Trading is where a trader makes a bet on the price movement of an underlying asset in the near future for a fixed amount.
Later on Wednesday I was privileged to attend The British-American Parliamentary Group reception in honour of the American Ambassador, His Excellency Matthew W. Barzun, in Speaker's House.
I rounded off the day by meeting constituents at a Meet the Street event in Parliament. Here I invite in a number of randomly selected streets from throughout the constituency and invite people in for a chat, a drink and a tour of Parliament.
