Mike Freer MP Supports Bill Calling for Standardised Diabetes Testing for over 40’s
Mike Freer MP has supported a Bill in the House of Commons which would standardise diabetes testing for over 40’s, improving upon the deficiencies of the current NHS Health Check.
Upon supporting the Bill, Mike Freer said “This Bill is a timely proposal, at a time of rapidly rising rates of diabetes and increasing costs to the NHS from preventable conditions.
By addressing certain problems in our current health check system, we can diagnose and begin treating the 850,000 people in the United Kingdom who are unaware they have diabetes, who are currently at high risk of serious health problems.
I am confident that early detection of conditions like diabetes will save lives, prevent incredibly harmful health problems and save millions of pounds on expensive emergency treatments.”
