Weekly Roundup
Parliament returned last week to a New Year and a new start for 2016. I began my week with an interview with Barnet TV, a new online television station which is run by Barnet residents to help promote community engagement across the local area. Following my interview with Barnet TV I met with the CEO of Barnet Council for our quarterly update. I was grateful to Andrew Travers for providing me with an overview of all the current issues facing our area.
Last week I submitted my monthly NW11 article which you can read here. My main message was about how I felt Britain had stepped into 2016 stronger and more resolute; ready to face up to the many challenges it faces over the course of the next year.
I met with Chief Superintendent, David Stringer of the Metropolitan Police on Thursday, to discuss his ideas of how to improve community relations with the Jewish community. In light of recent reports of rising anti-Semitic attacks, both I and the Met are keen to ensure we do all we can to make everyone – of all faiths and backgrounds – feel safe.
